Abstract

This paper reports on the synthesis of polypyrrole nanowires using a very simple three electrode system consisting of working, counter and reference electrodes. A strong anodisc alumina pore (AAO) template is used for the growth of these nanowires. They can be used in biosening applications like cancer detection due to its unique properties such as biocompatibility, good electrical resistivity and many others. The best condition for the growth of nanowires is determined using cyclic voltammetry method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and mainly the energy dispersive X ray (EDAX) are used to indicate the presence of the polyprrole nanowires. A wheatstone bridge based interdigitated electrode is fabricated on which the nanowires are randomly distributed for further applications.
