In this paper, we introduce a medical imaging computation and processing platform called MITK. The goal of MITK is to provide a consistent, easy to learn and use, high performance framework for medical image processing and analyzing. In functionality, MITK implements the most algorithms in medical image registration, segmentation and 3D visualization in a consistent manner. The different algorithms can be compared in a fair environment provided by MITK to get the reasonable results. In addition, the architecture of MITK is open and allows other algorithms to be integrated easily to enhance the ability of MITK.
