Abstract

This paper presents a XML specification to describe the contents of AVI files in order to be used in a Content-Based Video Retrieval system. Two main objectives are pursued with the specification: to use a standard tool for making the high level description and to make a versatile descrip tion meaning that the specification may incorporate any fu ture change in the video signature, as it could be new low level primitives or any other high level content description derived from these new primitives. The specification has been applied to a database of 62 AVI files with 817 shots.
