Abstract

This paper reports the results of a steady state voltage sensitivity analysis of the Norwest Control Area which is part of the Mexican Interconnected System. Additionally, a scalar index for assessing the proximity of an operating condition to voltage instability is presented. This index is based on the minimum eigenvalue of the sensitivity matrix (SQLV)^-1. In this work, the sensitivity matrices do not consider the coupling between active power and phase angles to the reactive power and voltage magnitudes.
